PocketCall help

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about PocketCall Protection, accidental-call recovery, languages, notifications, privacy, and Pro features.

Getting started

What does PocketCall do?

PocketCall helps identify possible accidental outgoing calls and gives you quick recovery choices after the call ends. You can call the person back, open a prepared apology in your messaging app, or dismiss the recovery alert.

Does PocketCall block, end, redirect, or record my calls?

No. PocketCall does not block, end, reroute, or record your phone calls. Android’s call-redirection role lets PocketCall recognise the outgoing destination while allowing the call to continue unchanged. PocketCall uses call timing and supported phone sensors only to help decide whether to show Recovery.

Which phones can use PocketCall?

PocketCall supports Android 10 and later. Detection can vary because phone models contain different sensors and manufacturers manage background apps differently. Features that depend on a sensor are used only when that sensor is available.

Where is PocketCall available?

PocketCall is available worldwide on Google Play. Google Play shows the app and any in-app purchase price in the local currency associated with your Play account.

Which languages does PocketCall support?

PocketCall supports 33 interface languages: English, Hindi, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, German, Bengali, Arabic, French, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Italian, Korean, Indonesian, Japanese, Dutch, Filipino, Afrikaans, Swahili, Hausa, Polish, Swedish, Norwegian Bokmål, Danish, Finnish, Turkish, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Vietnamese, Thai, Malay, and Ukrainian.

On Android 13 and later, choose PocketCall’s language in Android’s app-language settings. On Android 10–12, PocketCall follows your phone language. Built-in recovery messages follow the selected app language; messages you write and save yourself remain unchanged.

Protection and notifications

Why does “PocketCall — Protection Active” stay in my notifications?

Protection monitors for possible accidental calls while you use your phone. Android requires an ongoing notification whenever this type of foreground protection service is running. On some phones it cannot be swiped away while Protection remains enabled.

To remove it completely, turn off Protection inside PocketCall. Removing or blocking the notification does not replace the need to turn off the protection service.

How do I hide “Protection Active” from my lock screen?

Open your phone’s Settings, then look for:

  1. Apps or Notifications
  2. PocketCall
  3. PocketCall Protection or its notification categories
  4. Lock screen, then choose Don’t show or Hide content

The names and order vary between Samsung, Google Pixel, Motorola, Xiaomi, Oppo, and other Android phones. You can keep Protection running while hiding its notification from the lock screen.

Why does PocketCall need notification permission?

Notifications show that Protection is active and display time-sensitive Recovery alerts after a possible accidental call. If notifications are disabled, Android may hide those alerts or show foreground-service status elsewhere in the system.

What happens when Do Not Disturb is turned on?

Depending on your phone’s Do Not Disturb settings, a PocketCall Recovery alert may not appear in the notification bar, and its sound or vibration may be silenced. PocketCall cannot override your phone’s Do Not Disturb settings.

To receive visible and audible Recovery alerts, turn off Do Not Disturb or allow PocketCall notifications as an exception. The names and locations of these settings vary between Android phones.

Will Protection restart after I reboot my phone?

If Protection was enabled, PocketCall is designed to restore it after your phone restarts. Some manufacturers apply extra battery or auto-start restrictions, so check PocketCall’s battery and background-app settings if Protection does not return.

Detection and Recovery

How does Short-call Recovery work?

PocketCall uses the duration of an outgoing call to help identify a likely accidental call. PocketCall Pro lets you choose a short-call cutoff between 3 and 8 seconds. Calls at or below your chosen cutoff can open Recovery automatically.

Quick tip: How can I test Short-call Recovery?

Turn on Protection, allow PocketCall’s requested phone and notification permissions, and temporarily turn off Silent or Do Not Disturb. Call someone you know, then end the outgoing call before they answer and within 5 seconds—or within the cutoff you selected in PocketCall Pro.

After the call ends, PocketCall should show Recovery. You can call back, open a prepared SMS to review and send, or dismiss the alert. PocketCall never sends an SMS automatically.

What is concealed-call detection?

Concealed-call detection uses supported sensors to help identify possible pocket or bag calls that last longer than your Short-call Recovery setting. Pro users can switch this feature on or off. Turning it off does not disable ordinary Short-call Recovery.

Will PocketCall detect every pocket call?

No. PocketCall is a recovery tool that detects short calls and may detect some concealed pocket dials when supported by your device’s sensors and settings. It cannot guarantee that every pocket call will be detected or that every accidental call can be recovered from.

Device capabilities, permissions, system settings, call duration, and the circumstances of each call can affect detection. Check your call history if you think an accidental call may have occurred.

Does PocketCall send an SMS automatically?

No. PocketCall opens your messaging app with a proposed recipient and recovery message. You review the details and choose whether to send it. If PocketCall cannot identify the call recipient, it asks you to select one.

What should I check if Recovery does not appear?
  • Confirm that Protection is enabled in PocketCall.
  • Allow PocketCall notifications and the requested phone permissions.
  • Confirm PocketCall has the requested Android call-redirection role.
  • Check that your phone is not heavily restricting PocketCall’s battery or background use.
  • Make a short outgoing test call and end it within your configured cutoff.

If the issue continues, include your phone model and Android version when contacting support.

Privacy and PocketCall Pro

Does PocketCall upload my calls, contacts, or sensor information?

No. Detection signals, contact matching, recovery messages, recordings, settings, and Recovery history are processed and stored on your device. PocketCall does not operate an app server that receives this information. Read the full Privacy Policy for details.

What is included with PocketCall Pro?

Pro adds adjustable 3–8 second Short-call Recovery timing, a concealed-call detection switch, custom General, Personal, and Business messages, Contact Profiles, custom recovery sounds and vibration, and removal of the Free version’s required “Sent by PocketCall.” footer.

Is PocketCall Pro a subscription?

No. PocketCall Pro is a one-time in-app purchase through Google Play. Google Play shows the final price in your local currency before purchase.

How do I restore PocketCall Pro?

Use the same Google account that made the purchase, then open PocketCall’s Pro purchase screen while connected to the internet. Google Play checks the account’s existing purchase and restores access when it is recognised.
